Records created and compiled by architect Kenneth H. Cardwell during the Cooper-Molera Adobe restoration project. Files include letters, project recommendations, specifications, technical analyses, reviews and summaries. It also contains interpretative outlines, historical research notes, architectural drawings and plans for the Cooper-Molera building complex. Copies of selected sections of the Archivos de Monterey and Solares de Monterey (1826-1834) pertaining to the Cooper and other properties are also part of the files.

In 1972, the California Department of Parks and Recreation proposed restoration of the Cooper-Molera adobe. Parks and Recreation leased the property from the National Trust for Historical Preservation. Beginning in 1973, architects, archaeologists, and others worked on the project to research and restore the buildings and grounds in the manner of the period between 1820 and 1850.
